Confused company. Very big on "mission statement", but doesn't know how to execute that statement.

I worked at CenturyLink full-time for more than 8 years

Pros

Fortune 500 company and third largest in the US.

Cons

I went through the merger of Qwest with CenturyLink.
Their communication during the change was poor and because of this the people who were doing most of the work were left in the dark and felt frustrated and unsure of their position . They do not manage change well.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Act like you care about the individual, even if you don't.

I have been working at CenturyLink full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

Good Compensation and Pay. Pretty good Benefits, They preach a good core set of company values.

    Cons

They don't follow their own list of company values. There is a huge "Good Ole Boy" system here. Laying people off around the country, with the option of moving to BFE Monroe, LA or leave the company. Only way to get promoted is to be friends with the management.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Merit by performance, not merit by being buddies. Stop making deals with state of Louisiana, that negatively impacts the rest of the company.
