Lost personalization, company sold, good people gone

    Pros

    It's gay friendly, that's nice.

    Cons

If you read Dilbert, you'll get the flavor of working for CenturyLink. Dilbert was inspired by Adams time at ATT. I was a sales rep, told by my service person in newspeak that she basically couldn't do much for me. There was a letter in one of my clients portfolio from a regional VP promising an overdue T1 that was yet to be delivered.

I have been working at CenturyLink full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

With enough talent, one can make a very stable career here. Amount of vacation days is nice. Leadership promotes strong values. My peers and direct manager are awesome.

    Cons

Low pay. Us members of management pay a lot for benefits. Not much room for advancement. Way too much office politics in call center management and middle management. Far too many managers who are not leaders. Qwest was fantastic, but not too happy with CenturyLink's decisions and atmosphere.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Time to increase pay for many job titles. Fix the atmosphere and overall employee engagement and job satisfaction by getting rid of all the power hungry micro managers and replacing with true leaders who care about their individuals more than their own image. Hold people accountable to the strong values leadership promotes.
