Verbally abusive management - toxic work environment

Clarkston, GA

Current Employee – been working at Ceradyne

Prosdecent pay and good benefits, but this doesn't make up for what you'll go through to get it (see cons).

ConsCeradyne Defense has no problem hiring a dozen managers, but balks at hiring people who actually produce the parts.

The end result is that if you're a "worker bee" at Ceradyne, you are required to work 12-16 hours per day, 7 days a week, including holidays.

Worker bees also have no access to resources because the managers and supervisors are tied up in meetings all day long, every single day. This tends to cause confusion and delays in production on the floor. Of course, the worker bees are held accountable for the chaos.

Also, several of the managers are verbally abusive and use threatening language to "get their point across". The solution to all problems is to throw more paperwork into the mix, which creates more problems, which creates more paperwork, and on and on and on.

Advice to Senior ManagementOverall this is a horrible work environment. The age-old American problem of "too many chiefs, not enough Indians" and "too many bosses, not enough leaders" applies to the Ceradyne Defense division. There are people here who after being loyal employees for 10 or 20 years or more are fed up and would just rather work at Wal-Mart at this point.

No, I would not recommend this company to a friend
