I have been working at Cerner

Pros

Decent 401k plan and ESPP. Decent vacation and time off plans. This could depend on your manager. Decent starting salary.

Cons

Inconsistent performance evaluations. Your manager will most likely have no control over your yearly raises. Most raises barely match COLA. Limited to no room for advancement depending upon your executive. A light of proprietary technologies that have limited to no market value. Very limited health insurance.

    Pros

Great coworkers, good communication, encouragement when appropriate, expectations are high but not unfair or biased. Love the outlook of opportunities at Cerner!

    Cons

Some tasks can be repetitive - but most are not. Doesn't that apply to anywhere though? Some pessimistic co-workers at times.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Keep searching for ways to find and reward excellence in your organization. And don't always assume that a bell-curve will determine who is and isn't working hard and providing you with excellence. Based on your hiring principles I imagine you'd hope you have a majority of excellent performing associates, yet apply a bell curve when assessing performance? Have a re-think of this approach :)
