Pros

Lots of training opportunities and career opportunities --- if you put in 5+ years

Cons

Skill set not matched with position -- you are placed in a position completely based on "business need"; your job may change a few months in -- and you won't know about it until it's time to move, and you have no say in the change; managers don't care about new employees (mine did not speak to me or acknowledge me for 5 months); benefits are not as strong as you're lead to believe

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Review resumes and experience thoroughly, and utilize that information to place your employees where they'll make the greatest contribution to the company; don't take advantage of the week economy by reducing starting salaries -- salaries have dropped dramatically in the last 3 years, despite the company's record profits

    Pros

    Great place to start your career and figure out what career role/path suits you best. Social activities are great to make connections.

    Cons

    Benefits are extremely expensive to use. Management rarely pay attention to the pros or don't give much reward for employee achievements, mainly just a pat on the back. Excessive overtime, on call 24/7 without any incentive. Starting pay not so great either, if you want to be paid what you deserve it's probably it'll take between 5-10 years. Best to get your experience for 2-3 years and move on to a company that offers better benefits and pay.

    Improve employee benefits, reward employees for major achievements they have earned for the company.

    Cerner provides an innovative environment where ideas and performance are rewarded.

    Cons

    It is clear that to elevate to a Sr. Management position you have to leave the company for some time and come back or come from the outside.
