Cerner – “Opportunities for advancement - but without the compensation to support it

Apr 7, 2009

2.0

Cerner Clinical Strategist in Kansas City, MO:   (Past Employee - 2009)

Pros

Smart, great people who are willing to work very hard, knowledge sharing, opportunities to learn other areas outside of your area of work, ongoing educational opportunities

Cons

Below average pay, unfair and inconsistent promotion practices, poor raises, expectation to work beyond your role without appropriate compensation, limited health insurance options, below average company match to 401K, raises not based on performance, definitely matters who you know in company

Advice to Senior Management

Base compensation, raises, and promotions on performance. Associates should be paid for the role that they are performing (and held accountable for). Associates have varied experiences based upon role and team - very inconsistent and unfair promotion and compensation practices. "Work hard, play hard" mentality in reality most often translates to "work hard and then work harder".
