Pros

Teachers are truly dedicated and parents are getting more than their monies worth. Teachers invest countless hours in preparation to enhance the outdated curriculum and resources.

Cons

Can't trust management or corporate as an employee. Disingenuous. All about the bottom line. No loyalty to employees. Appears the mission for LDS owner is to leave an empire to her progeny as an inheritance. Corporate seems to selectively employ her relatives even when they often exemplify the "Peter Principle". Totally top down communication and if you respectfully and professionally offer feedback you might as well start counting your days.

Advice to Management

Your teachers are your greatest assets. Give them breathing room. Stop holding them hostage. listen with eagerness and being appreciative. Be an example of excellence in communication which works both ways.

A good but outdated product with consistent high test scores but competition is getting better.

    Pros

Traditional methods, patriotic, proud, good product. Music in curriculum. Facility improvements for students.

    Cons

Product needs to improve and evolve to retain and attract new customers. "Take it or leave it" attitude towards parents or employees. Penny pinching company practices. Company culture seems to view employees as expendables. Senior management seems to be blinded by pride. High turnover.

    Advice to Management

Improve the product, offer more choices to customers. Listen, listen, listen to your customers and employees! Allow more flexibility in the classroom. Do something about the high turnover. You're losing good leaders and Americans.

Challenger is a great education, but has high teacher turnover for good reasons.

    Pros

Truth is, it's the best education for the price. Period. The methods & philosophy are great. The mission statement is carefully crafted and should be a standard for education in general.

    Cons

Upper management talks about how the teachers are so important but in reality - the teacher turnover is high, salary is low, and benefits are not competitive. Rarely do they put in Headmasters with education experience to run the schools. I'm afraid to give honest, what I believe to be constructive, feedback (to proper hierarchy) without fear of being fired. I've worked there for years, due impart through hard work, diligence through dedication, and saying nothing to/about the administration. I understand, however, as an employer, there would be 5 people willing to take the place of a "unruly" teacher for less pay.

    Advice to Management

Treat your teachers as human assets, not liabilities. A product/curriculum can be great, but without effective delivery, it's just books on the shelf. Teachers do everything from parent relations/enrollment, grades and the child's overall educational experience ( which greatly influences enrollment). I will make almost a quarter-of-million dollars for the company through student tuition this year and will be paid around 13% (this depends on greatly on teacher/ class size ratio) of that this school year with almost 90% re-enrollment for next year ( even with years of teaching experience with this company). Would another 10% really bust overhead costs for workers who do SO much for the company?
