    Pros

It's a very good place for work life balance and if you're in the right department, can offer you many opportunities for growth. The GMT group offers a lot of training opportunities to recent hires and there is always room for movement within the company. It definitely feels like a family environment there and if you're an extrovert, it is easy to get recognition throughout the company up to the CEO. The environment is very laid back, maybe too laid back at times. Most groups push you to stretch beyond your current capabilities so that you will grow and it is easy to find a good mentor there who can give you the tools you need to continue moving up the company and who sincerely want you to succeed.

    Cons

The mentality there is somewhat "good ol' boy" and there are some glass ceilings there. This could mainly be due to the nature of the business. Also, some may disagree with a lot of the choices that are made regarding career progression. There is a lot of inconsistencies with how departments are managed and it is very obvious that people who have been there a lot longer have more "privilidges" and managers tend to be more lenient on them. Also, the environment at the corporate office can resemble that of a high school with clicks. There is also a disconnect between the field level offices and the corporate office in that people at corporate think the field people play golf and entertain customers all day while field level people think corporate people work their 8 to 5 and then leave work at the office.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

A lot of the initiatives from senior management often don't get dissiminated through the ranks and those that do, are diluted and like a rumor, change as they go further and further away from the original source. It would be nice if all departments were managed consistently.

    Pros

Its a privately owned company that treats everyone as a family. It supports personal and professional growth in a balanced format.

    Cons

Favortism for its chosen few. However you can become one of its chosen few.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Because it is privately owned, all retirement options are self funded. HELP. Pay more than the industry standard so that we can make up for that lacking component or provide a better retirement contribution.
