Pros

1. Very risk averse.
2. Slow to change, even for the better.
3. Pays less than competition

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Imcrease pay scales to prevent best talent from having to go to another company and come back.

    Pros

    Very social. Don't have to react quarter by quarter since they are family owned.

    Cons

    Not very strategic. Very tactical. This is a strength for the day to day, but can cause confusion about long term direction.

    Pros

    Good benefits, less work stress , less work ( a pro for some and con for all others)

    Cons

    Very very poor mid level management & a lot of senior management. A complete management structure that was developed based on 'who knows who' rather than merit. The most incompetent people with some golf / other social skills are promoted to be managers leading a team . Very poor turn over ratio in 2012 ( 50%). Attitude in the company is pathetic. Nobody has ownership in what they do , it is a sad to see there is no want for people to stay.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    I have met with steve , Tom and other leaders of the company and noticed a sea of change in attitude between the upper and the midlevel management. THis could be the reason they decided to ditch the company to Ecolab as it was not controllable anymore from the top.

    ECOLAB: Please send hoards of HR reps to Champion and clean house the existing HR's . They are a part of this bad management ring. A clean house all the way up to managers in every plant will be a good thing as productivity will increase. Any change will increase productivity. The current productivity is so bad that any change will be positive.

    Break down too much hierarchy in the structure. You do not need more managers than employees , which is the case now.

    Get smarter and leaner..
