I have been working at Charles Schwab full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Great culture and nice people work here. Found some life-long career buddies here. If you are looking for a firm that really believes that they help the public, then look no further. These guys invented it.

    Cons

Bonus structure and abundance of mid-level managers offer a stagnant CYA corporate environment. This is due to the size of the organization.

I worked at Charles Schwab full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

As long as Chuck is alive and somewhat involved, the vision will be consistent.
Health insurance benefits were once better but now about the same as everywhere else. Every 5 years you get a 30 day paid sabbatical.
Promotions are possible when you start in an entry-level position.

    Cons

Compensation is decent but you will never get rich.
Very few people ever start in an entry level position and get past low-level management/supervisor. You get pigeon-holed and they believe you are the same as the day you started no matter what education level you achieve.
The culture is very cliquish. As long as you can play the corporate politics game well you will be fine but if you can't or don't want to play the game you will not go very far. It is VERY MUCH about the political game.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Management needs to realize that it is okay to have someone other than Branch employees make over $100k as a Financial Consultant.
