This was a very stressful work environment; teachers were harrassed by the administration until they resigned or retired

I have been working at Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools full-time (more than a year)

Pros

Winter break and summers off

Cons

My principal picked teachers off one by one. The turnover rate was incredible. The administration specifically targeted older teachers. Administration caved to the demands of parents. The graduation retention rate is a joke. Teachers were pressured to pass students who did not learn because the principal's bonus depended on it.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Make public shools about education.

I worked at Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

Diverse community with hard working teachers and administrators. Strong community support and parent involvement.

    Cons

Too many mandates brought down from leadership...WAY too big, and not equitable in distribution of resources.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stop putting more and more burden on the school's just to show off on the national stage. If you want to show great progress, change your district leadership and policies.

I have been working at Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

They offer tons of professional development.

    Cons

constant changes in policy, principals, and co workers. You have to pay $50 to use your personal days and health insurance is horrible. 8 hour workday plus meetings on demand

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stop moving principals so much. Stop making so many systematic changes so quickly
