Charter Communications – “Lack of Caring

Nov 30, 2008

3.0

Charter Communications Broadband Technician III in Kimball, NE:   (Current Employee)

Pros

Being able to move from one job to another is doable. Charter does require that you gain at least a certain level of competancy within the job you were hired to do. After meeting that level you can switch to different areas within Charter.

Cons

Lack of communication, expectations. They do a terrible job of listening or caring what customer or employee complaints or thoughts are. It is very easy to burn out because of this lack of caring. The job of giving service to the customer is great, with installation, troubleshooting, etc. But, dealing with a PDA that doesn't make sense, and is hard to use, bosses that don't respect the customers wants or their property. Arrogance would be a fitting word here.

Advice to Senior Management

You spend a lot of money and time training your people to do a professional job with the customers. Before unrolling
any new ideas that affect the customers, and the people who deal with customers directly, try finding out if this idea is a good idea out in the field by asking customers and your employees who deal directly with them.

Ideas that come out of an office cubicle rarely if ever are worth much in the field.
