Pros

Good people, takes people on without much experience, gives you many chances to succeed.
it is a very versetile company and there is always something interesting going on.

Cons

Takes new people without much experience, lots of legacy code and infrastructure to the point where is sometimes hard to implant new things, it seems uncaring about the people work there. low salaries comparable to the market especially for QA. it sometimes feels like the company doesn't want to spend money even when it is needed makeing you jump through hoops to get approval for simple things.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

take more care of the people working in the company too many great people have left in the last 3 years.

Former Employee - Diamond Services Engineer

I worked at Check Point Software Technologies full-time

    Pros

    - Always new material to learn

    - Great people to work with

    - Free lunches (!)

    - Flexibility with paid time off

    - Reasonably comfortable office environment

    - Travel opportunities

    - Good health insurance plan (100% coverage on most things)

Working in the TAC is a good stepping stone. Management is helpful and they do what they can to accommodate employee requests.

    Cons

    - Extreme workload

    - Highly stressful work environment

    - Poorly managed support structure within the senior (Diamond/escalation) teams, with engineers functioning primarily in a reactive mode, trying to put out fires

    - Unrealistic expectations of senior engineers, while promising customers the moon

    - High employee turnover, leading to senior teams being inundated with less experienced engineers

    - Account managers and sales personnel interfere excessively with the support process

    - Highly unsatisfactory compensation, given the type of work being performed

    - Poorly administered internal resources, with frequent connectivity issues, overly complicated procedures for simple tasks, and a low quality lab environment

    - No gym/exercise program, making it very easy to gain weight due to the many high-fat lunch options

    - Frequent product and patch releases, suggesting a weak QA process, creating additional workload for support teams

    - Senior teams are still part of a phone queue

    - No clear career path once one reaches Diamond/escalation, with management reluctant to let employees leave for another department...essentially Diamond/escalation is a dead end

It's clear that the TAC is a call center environment, and it is operated as such.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Increase compensation for senior engineers. These guys are providing recommendations and services to Fortune 500 companies on their network security...compensate them accordingly.

Don't run the company in such a lean manner...create some spare capacity by hiring additional staff, particularly for the senior teams.

Ensure that the sales and support teams work in a synchronized manner, i.e. make sure that sales is not overselling a product, otherwise steps need to be taken to accommodate the support needed for the influx of new accounts.

I worked at Check Point Software Technologies full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Not too big company - you know everybody, if you are OK, they won't let you go, nice working environment, with many young people

    Cons

micro management - to hard to work this way, salary is lower than the market, they bring managers from the outside instead of growing up the people...
