I have been working at Check 'n Go full-time (more than an year)

Pros

None. Well I did meet some great people (customers) that I hope to stay in touch with, but other than that, NONE!!!

Cons

Very unsafe. I was robbed at gunpoint and then was almost fired for getting robbed!!! Upper management don't want to spend the money to get more employees or some kind of safety measures in place.
If you are not a store manager or above, you don't even exist at Check n Go!!! And you can forget about moving up to a manager position if you were not hired in as one. They would rather hire people that don't know anything about Check n Go than promote someone who has worked for the company and knows about the company!!! I was passed over for several management positions and the DDO is a liar who hired all of his former employees from the company he came from! And guess what, all were hired in as managers!!!! Its ridiculous! Just because you have experience in the industry doesn't mean you know everything about Check n Go!!! And the worst part is that I truly liked the "job" and was a loyal and dedicated employee..I work hard for this company and now I am being treated unfairly because I blew the whistle on my manager who just so happens to be a close friend of my DDO. There is so much illegal and shady stuff going down at not only the store Im at but within the district its unbelievable!!! I can't wait to get away from Check n Go, the sooner the better!!
My advice is don't work here unless you are hired in as a manager, otherwise noone will even know that you are there....

Realize that the CSRs are the face of your company and give them the recognition that they deserve. Also, what looks good on the surface usually stinks underneath!!! Look into to the people you have in "charge"!

    Pros

    Off on Sundays, That's it!

    Cons

    Held accountable for things you have no control over; such as debt, growth, check cashing and reactivated customers, and then there's staffing issues.

    -Lets start with debt, I can't control if a customer desides to come in and pay us or not, I can call and call and call all day, but that doesn't mean a customer is gonna come in, I can tell them the consiquences of not paying all day, but if they already have it set in their mind that their not going to pay, guess what?? Their NOT going to!

    -Next, Growth, I can't control the location of my store, I am about an 8th of a mile away from the road, It's not my fault people don't know we're here, I get out there and market the best that I can, when I can (Staffing issues), I can roadside all day, but that doesn't mean I'm going to get someone in my store and do a loan, not to mention I have about 15 other payday loan companies within a 5 mile radius of my store and they actually have commercials and radio broadcasts unlike check 'n go.

    -Check Cashing, it's not my fault our check cashing rates are so high, I don't blame a customer that doesn't want to cash their payroll check with us for $22. especially when they can go to the grocery store and get it cashed for about $3.

    -Reactivated customers, if a customer stops coming back, it's because their SMART, $110 a month is a lot of money, I can call them all day and all week, and do you know what I get back as a responce.... No answer, disconnected, "stop calling", they don't want to get back into this, they spent months on top of months just to get out of this. Why would they come back, it's not my customer service, it's the company, I hear it all the time "No affence, but I won't be seeing you you anymore, I got caught up." Good for them.

    -Staffing, CSR's (Customers Service Representatives) are constantly quiting, store managers are constantly getting fired, DDO's (District Director of Operations) never make it passed their 90 day probational period and when they do, they still don't last long, CSR's get about 20 to 25 hours a weeks, so there's no time for marketing, and company wonders why they can't keep anybody, There's no job security with Check 'n Go. and speaking of security...

    -Security, I work by myself, with no bullet proof glass window, no door, so customers and kids can just easily walk behind my counter, panic button can only be pressed after the robber leaves the store, it's really unsafe, I don't feel comfortable in my store at all, and the company once again, wonders why they can't keep anybody.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    None, Uppermanagement doesn't care so I'm not going to waste my time giving them advise. CEO needs to get on Undercover Bosses and see what really goes on in the stores.
