I have been working at Chevron

Pros

Flexible sch, holiday when you want, sick day paid, disability benefits, great health insurance, good work culture.

Cons

company forcing employees to move or to stay in midland, tx due to shortage of employees. high cost of living in Midland, Tx.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

chevron should be more competitive or give location premium for Midland,Tx. cost of living is also high. Nothing to do for couples in some of the locations. they can possibly also move the production engineering work location to Houston.

    I worked at Chevron

    Pros

Overall the company strives to be competitive, but maintains safety as its number one concern. They try to provide many incentives, and most management strives to ensure employees are happy and productive.

    Cons

The quality of work life is truly represented by the supervisor you immediately report to. If you get unlucky, you're pretty much trapped. Many times, it was "who you know" not "what you know" to squeak by. You will see many people lacking ambition, and these people are dismissed in light of relatives in higher places. Others work extensively over 40 hr/week and are just asked to do more and more. There is definitely discrepancies in workload, that seem to be based on luck of the draw.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Listen to your employees. Notice the hard work that people put in. I know many that absolutely love their jobs, and they are excellent at it, but they push themselves so much more than others. Truly, people do like to feel appreciated once in a while, instead of feeling like everything is just expected of them because they are talented at what they do...

    I worked at Chevron

    Pros

opportunities are great, they are very progressive

    Cons

career development more of a priority for engineering or geology career paths, but other career paths seem less valued.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

more attention to those NOT in an engineering or geology role (i.e. IT, finance, etc.).
