Pros

Chevron values employee work life balance, work place safety, encourages community involvement and offers opportunities for personal and professional development. The Chevron Way and the mantra, "do it right or not at all," ensure projects are thoughtfully pursued and employees don't feel pressured to "cut corners."

Cons

Departments may determine what development/training opportunities are availble to employees and unfortunately, many departments have very tight budgets which limits training opportunities that may cost $.

Advice to Management

Encourage management and employees to embrace The Chevron Way every day and not only when it's convenient. Recognize the "worker bees" and not just those who work on high profile projects. Encourage team building.

Mixed feelings during internship. Very bad after-taste due to unprofessional behavior of my manager.

    Pros

Good work-life balance. (Some) exceptional leaders & managers.

    Cons

Blatant favoritism to "legacy" kids regardless of their actual ability and performance - and there are many such examples. Very disheartening.

    Advice to Management

People leave their jobs because of their managers, so please do a good job when selecting your managers. There are those few managers who leave much to be desired and behave vengefully and childishly after an employee has chosen to resign / decline an offer of employment. As we know, employees, past and present, spread the word about these issues, and this reflects horribly on Chevron. Get rid of the bad apples before they ruin the entire company.

not willing to let employee try different tasks. If you are good at one area, you might need to work on that area for very long

    Advice to Management

Encourage emplyoee to try different areas and expose them to a wide variety of projects in a shorter time. Sometimes management is not willing to release employees to their next assignment
