I have been working at Chevron full-time (more than 5 years)

Pros

Salary and benefits.
Job stability.
Nice people and team leaders.

Cons

Nearly all jobs are awful cities such as Houston, Bakersfield, or Lagos.
Senior level managers only pretend they listen.
Failures are always presented as success stories.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Build competitive advantage by hiring the best people in geographically attractive locations.
In the 21st century, there is not need to have everyone in the same place.
One genius working for you in CA could change the way you do your business, while Houston is home for mediocrity and lack of innovation.

I have been working at Chevron full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Extremely passionate about safety and operational excellence. The Chevron Way is a model for how other companies should act. At Chevron, results matter - but they also focus on how you achieved the results. Very ethical and no where near the image that the media portrays it to be and miles ahead of ExxonMobil in terms of culture and business performance. Lots of opportunities and truly global in scope and operations.

    Cons

The culture can be too nice i.e. people tend to avoid conflicts resulting in missed opportunities for meanigful dialogue. Thereare ongoing efforts by the leadership to promote directness, speed and simplicity but it will take time.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Continue the focus on people development for all groups i.e. managing the exit of senior folks and retaining their knowledge and skills within the company, developing new hires and most importantly - taking care of the middle management group who will lead the company into the future.
