OK, but slow - Too much "process" gets in the way of innovation

I have been working at Chevron full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

    Safety ALWAYS comes first.
    High set of core values.
    Work Life Balance.
    Great learning experience on processes.

    Cons

If you're not US payroll, your chances of growing are slim to none.
Management doesn't like to promote talent from emerging economic markets.
2 different worlds between Upstream & Downstream.
Pay scales are relatively mediocre for non US payroll. CVX doesn't care if the country in which you work has economic woes (between inflation and devaluation, you lose double digit percentage of your salary each year), they adjust your scale to fit budget, making you earn less each year.
9/80 schedule is only applicable to operations outside the US.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

If they actually read this, please refer to the cons.
There should be opportunities for non US payroll employees who work based in emerging economies, to be able to grow in the company.
9/80 should be deployed in other countries.
Perks like the Chevron employee discount program for US payroll employees, should be available to other employees.
Don't underestimate employees from emerging economic markets.

I have been working at Chevron as a contractor

    Pros

If you're an employee, I think Chevron is great.

    Cons

Unfortunately in the department I'm in, contractors are treated like second-class citizens even though we do the same thing as full-time employees.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Treat contractors fairly - address that contractors contribute a great deal to Chevron as a whole and make us feel like we're valued.
