I worked at Chick-fil-A part-time (more than a year)

Pros

It is nice that the organization is closed on Sundays. Generally fellow employees are quite friendly, and the managers are great at flexible scheduling to fit in with life as a student..

Cons

As with any job, there are times when the specific task is not something enjoyable. Long shifts in the same spot can be rather tiring.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Create an automated inventory tracking system that the managers can update as they take supplies from storage to give a more accurate representation of what is being used. This will allow for collection of big data to help make better business decisions for purchasing and reducing waste.

It all depends on who your operator is...

Former Employee - Assistant Manager in Sugar Land, TX

    I worked at Chick-fil-A full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

-Started at $11/hr, finished at $12/hr
-All the overtime I wanted(most great employees had this perk)
    -Fun, friendly employees/co-workers
    -Fast-paced
    -Challenging
-Little interaction/micromanagement by Operator(pro and con)
    -Community involvement

    Cons

-Only received one raise in 2 1/2 years there
-All benefits controlled by each store's operator(holiday pay, sick time, vacation time, tuition re-imbursement, bonus, direct deposit)
-Huge faux-pas/almost impossible to work for another operator in the area(too much politics)
-Near impossible to get your own store(1 in about every 250 applicants will be granted a store)
-Operator comes and goes as he pleases. I rarely saw mine more than when it was time to drop off checks(often several hours or a day late)

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Make benefits mandated by Chick Fil A rather than giving each operator the choice of what he wants to offer his employees(creates too much inconsistency from store to store).
