Horrible management (but all good people); good money for the job.

I worked at Chico's FAS full-time (more than an year)

Pros

Generous bonuses, flexible hours, great friendly atmosphere, good discounts, strong commitment to charity and community projects, and descent starting pay. When it is not busy, you can opt for unpaid time off for the day or use some accrued paid time off.

Cons

Too many managers with a severe lack of communication: one manager requests something to be done one way and then another comes to tell you it's wrong...followed by another that says it was right to begin with.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Either get rid of the superfluous management or learn to communicate with each other in order to prevent the employees from being subjected to the same question five different times.

I worked at Chico's FAS part-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Loyal customer base; decent employee discount but used to be much more generous; opportunity to bonus on sales.

    Cons

Clothing style has become "trendy" and some items of poor quality, We Chico's shoppers are not teenagers, nor having mid-life crises wherein we wish to dress like H&M shoppers.

Only scheduled 1 week in advance and depending on your store manager, schedules are posted on Wednesdays for the following Sunday, making scheduling any other activities in advance difficult.

Since company's reorganization about 2 years ago, starting hourly wage for Key Holder is ridiculously low; too many "tasks" involving paperwork and reports, and calling campaigns vs. customer relations and selling hours given.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Certain DSMs should learn to treat their managers with courtesy and respect, not as though they are incompetent employees. Treat them as you wish you to be treated.

I worked at Chico's FAS full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Management does not work more than 40 hours a week and that's about it - nothing really great to say.

    Cons

Where do I begin - always on two man coverage because of the lack of hours given to cover the store. Get rid of the "commission" - you will tackled and run over just to get to a customer that spends a lot of money and the other customers are completely ignored. Clothes are very expensive for the quality - which is poor in my opinion. Absolutely no help from upper management

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

You've created a coupon culture. 2 man coverage really? The expectation is to give impeccable customer service - impossible with 2 man coverage. Sher - get your head out of the sand because this place is so far away from being the best place to work.
