Pros

Providing quality care to children.
Employees (clinical and non clinical) dedicated to healthcare of children.
Beautiful facilities and state of the art hospital.
Benefits are good.

Cons

Total lack of communication between senior management and everyone else.
Consultants are continually brought in to review process but the results are never shared with employees.

Advice to Management

Communicate with staff. Do not allow an environment of indecision and adversity to change. The national rankings may not hold overtime with the level of employee discontent.

Employment without career advancement - good for some, but not all

    Pros

Great mission in this organization - clearly a leader in clinical pediatrics. Organizational culture is open and warm, and has many good practices.

    Cons

Consensus culture abounds. Non-clinical functions don't exude the same excellence as clinicians. If you're looking for great leadership or effectiveness, keep looking.

    Advice to Management

Focus on formulating your vision, strengthening your leadership functions, and holding people accountable. There are great processes in place - how many departments actually follow those processes? You're doing everything right on paper to keep people happy, but the execution is mediocre. Ask the hard questions. Pay attention to your own employee satisfaction survey - is it good enough to settle for 3's?

    Pros

Good atmosphere and coworkers. Overall it's a good place to work. The salary and benefits are above avereage compared to other industries hiring in the metro area.

    Cons

Some of upper management does not communicate well. Some groups within the organization does not communicate well. The pros outweigh the cons while working at the hospital.
