I have been working at Chili's full-time (more than a year)

Pros

tends to be a high volume restaurant, so quantity of customers should help make for high sales
affordable food
well-known

Cons

like staff, management is a revolving door. Extremely high turn-over rate
customers tend to flood in for the 2-20 deal... higher volume... lower check averages

    I worked at Chili's full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

If you actually learn what they try to teach you in training, it will help in ANY job you have afterwards. Yes, even that 'real' job you're after.
    Great serving job for beginners.

Restaurant managers get a lot of flack, but they do really well, considering what is expected of them by the company. They are basically adult babysitters.

    Cons

Turn and burn atmosphere. Don't expect to make 20% at every table (some stores are exceptions to this rule..). Instead, keep your section flowing, so that you can make the most of their excellent branding.

It's hard not to get caught up in the negative attitude.
Note: NOBODY owes you a 20% tip. If you didn't make good money on one table, try to make it up on the next one.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Mandatory meetings at 7am are silly. Find a better way to train and communicate with your staff.

I have been working at Chili's full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

It is a fun company to work for and they always have contests and stuff to give away. I have never had a problem with any managers and I always have great flexbility with my schedule. They also have a Brinker family fund in case you have a family emergency and they will help pay bills and rent.

    Cons

The company has recently taken away vacation pay for hourly team members though they do give money for how many years you have worked for them. Also the insurance is horrible for part time and full time.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Remember that alot of employees are working there while going to school so when they need to change their schedules they are not doing it to be difficult.
