I worked at Chili's full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

    - There really are none. You can get the same experience with better pay elsewhere.

    Cons

    - Management shows no respect for people working there.
    - When people fail to show each other respect in the restaurant, our customers sense this and think that they can treat the waitstaff like garbage, as well.
    - Food quality can be substandard at times making it difficult to serve to customers.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    - Your best people are walking out the door because you can't judge potential. Work on it.

    I worked at Chili's full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

Working at Chili's you'll meet great people (both your coworkers and the guests), have a flexible work schedule, there's consistent food and drink quality, high table turnover with large sections, a focus on team work, a fast paced work day that's never boring and there's always a contest going on you can win extra bonuses in.

    Cons

If you're full time, the health benefits are dismal- whether you are hourly or in management. $6000 deductible on your health insurance for single folks, $12,000 for a family. $750 emergency room copay that doesn't even cover all the ER bills. Full time hourly team members had their vacation time taken away in lieu of an annual bonus, that is significantly less than vacation time adds up to.
The company is always looking to do more with less- cutting labor hours often at the expense of the team running smoothly. Final straw for me was when the decision was made to make the bar area into a "sports bar like atmosphere"- with only attractive young people behind the bar. When at a meeting the girls were told to wear more makeup and tighter shirts, I knew it was time to move on.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

To upper management, actually, as usually when a in store manager makes a poor decision it's because he or she is trying to make numbers or keep their job- go back to putting the guests first. A meat market bar isn't going to win you the casual dining segment- great service, great food and customer experiences is. If you invest a little more in your team, you'll find they've got your back and will again be proud of the company they work for.
