Current Employee - Kitchen Manager in Moline, IL
Current Employee - Kitchen Manager in Moline, IL

I have been working at Chipotle full-time (less than an year)

Pros

-- The atmosphere is pleasant to be in, it is not a typical fast food style establishment.

-- Every employee gets a Development Journal. Containing;
    - Checklist's for each stage of the employee's progression.
    - Weekly entry section to be filled out during 1 on 1 talks with their Manager.
    - Note's section for writing down technical instructions (computer tasks, inventory tips, ect.)

-- Paid breaks, every lunch break includes free meal.

-- Quick promotions*

Cons

** Horrible turnover rate - 80%+ of employee's are employed less than 6 months. **

- Poor training. Assume that you will be training yourself on specific details.
- After first few weeks, expect inconsistant hours.
- Very positive interactions between new hires and managment for first week or so. It is just a front.
- Tolerates immaturity, gossip, and disparagement.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Recognize Top preformers and acknoledge them for their work.
Accept that low performers (no matter how "cool") need to be let go.
Enforce standards at all times, not just before inspections and corprate visits.

I have been working at Chipotle part-time (more than an year)

    Pros

1 free employee meal per shift worked, 50% meals when not working, and paid 30 minute breaks for every shift worked. Compensation is decent. Delicious food.

    Cons

Difficult to move up... Kitchen Manager is a challenging job. Not impossible to attain, but it takes a lot of training. This is not really a good first job, as it can be quite stressful at times.
