Lots of opportunity if you're willing to work hard and you're at least semi-smart.

Cons

Everything changes constantly... never quite sure what will happen next.

Focus, focus, focus... value your employees... they are your most valuable business asset!

    the people are passionate about there work for the most part and very collaborative.

    Cons

    re-org + re-org + re-org. Be prepared to live in fear of being fired.

    Pick a model for organization and stick with it for more than a year.

    Good employee and friends and family rates.

    If independently owned property, pay is based on how cheap/generous the owner is...

    Advice to Management

    More along the lines of advice to OWNERS, if independently owned hotel... check up on the GM often, and ask your other employees about things that go on around the hotel when you are not present. Sometimes... the people you leave in charge to run things, only run things WHEN you are around
