Former Employee - PC/Material Control Supervisor in Sterling Heights, MI
Former Employee - PC/Material Control Supervisor in Sterling Heights, MI

I worked at Chrysler as a contractor (more than 10 years)

Pros

Chrysler is a great place to work. Combined mindset of several ownership has made this company advance to the top of its game.

Cons

Chrysler will not hire former employees. Chrysler has lost some great talent cause of the economy but; now that they are back on their feet they turn their heads to former talent willing to come back to help. Same jobs have been posted for 2 years.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Hire LTC (Long Term Contract) for former management employees. (Vacation replacement or special project support).
As long as I am a retiree I am always on call.

Former Employee - Software Developer in Auburn Hills, MI

I worked at Chrysler full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Large company, so there are lots of opportunities. Auburn Hills HQ is a terrific facility. You will not get cabin fever in the winter! The pay is competitive. Old school culture was good, but it was being destroyed by the outsource craze.

    Cons

The auto industry is very cyclical, so its feast or famine. During famine it can be very long hours and stressful work.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Thinking IT is the thorn in your side is a self-fulfilling prophesy. Get better at knowledge retention.
