I worked at Cigna full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Large company so it is easy to move around
Great Benefits (401k, vacation time, health/dental/vision)
Opportunities for training if you have supportive management.

    Cons

A lot of dysfunction and lack of leadership in middle management; very uncommon to find management that actually supports their employees and assists with their career. A lot of middle management have no leadership training and are clearly interested only in their own advancement. Culture claims to include focus on work/life balance, but that is not consistently supporting. It is very hard to get a decent pay increase once you are in the company, even if you get a promotion unless you fight adamantly and have a manager that is willing to advocate for you. There is a lot of red tape, which is to be expected for a large/older company.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Get rid of those in management that cannot be leaders and cannot consistently advocate for Cigna's core values. There is a lot of talent that is being under-utilized; if that is recognized and those people are appreciated and promoted accordingly, it could do wonders for Cigna's business and their quality of service.
