Pros

Good people, very strong core products, generous time off and still a pretty good work environment, though less so than a few years ago

Cons

Boards and councils model means lack of accountability and it can be maddening trying to figure out who is in charge; managers are like Supreme Court justices, they only leave upon death so promotions are nearly non-existent; don't complain about my travel expenses when you've got $40B in the bank. Do you want me to call on customers or not?

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Somebody please step up and take charge. We need leadership, not management. And try promoting excellent people from within. Every time you bring in an outsider, we in the field are underwhelmed.

    Pros

The company encourages employees to take risks and it allows career movement across different business units within the company. Management makes a quick correction, even though it is sometimes painful.

    Cons

It is easy to be lost in an ever changing organization, going through acquisitions, restructuring, and management's experiments. There are too many redundant projects/products that ended up discontinued. Too many middle layer management, which could slow down decision making.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

To hold senior management more accountable. Instead of competing for funding, they should be encouraged to collaborate and achieve a greater goal. For example, architectural play.
