    Pros

Breadth of technology - fantastic being able to get involved in new area's of technology. You know when Cisco develop more IP products, customers want to hear about them. My colleagues are great to work with - everyone is willing to help. Cisco is in every account, so it's easier to introduce new technologies.

    Cons

Have no life - submitting numbers on Sunday afternoon/evening. Managers emailing you while they are on holiday. Some AM's planned holidays have been cancelled. Cisco do not invest enough in employing enough subject matter experts - it's always a struggle to get resource. Personal agenda's comes first, customer comes second. I have seen numerous re-organisations, which had no benefit to the customer. The technical and sales staff too far removed from senior management - their opinions don't seem to count. Poor managers get promoted, not sacked.

    Advice to Management

The account managers and systems engineers are the interface to the customer, and bring in the business. Look after them better, pay them better, ask their opinion and act on it. Ask why you need so many middle management, without targets or portfolio.

  2. An ambitious company with its heart in the right place.

    Pros

An ambitious company with its heart in the right place. Capable of producing incredible technology. Pay and conditions are excellent and you get the sense that you work for a company that is not out to screw its employees. Company has a very high reputation that is, in my opinion, well deserved.

    Cons

Despite working for a networking company, communication between functions can leave a lot to be desired. Company is known for being inflexible towards its customers. The overall strategy and direction can sometimes come across as being a little vague.

    Advice to Management

Focus on clarifying strategy so that we can all move along with a single mindset. Emphasis on frugality is fine but management should find other ways to increase the bottom line.
