I have been working at Cisco Systems

Pros

Looks good on a resume, everyone knows them

Cons

When I left a well respected hardware company to come to Cisco, everyone tried to talk me out of it, a manager told me (who worked there several years prior to coming to the company where we both worked) told me "at Cisco people don't tend to stab you in the back, they'll come right up to you and stab you in the face!" - a few weeks later I found out how truthful that was

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Don't just talk about doing what's right, actually do it, stop the rampant empire building within middle management tiers and the in-house political maneuvering

I have been working at Cisco Systems

    Pros

Great place to work. Employees are treated well if they actually perform.

    Cons

It's a big company and can be hard to stand out. Lots and lots of process. Being overworked is common. Cost cutting measures can appear ridiculous at times, especially considering how much money Cisco has in the bank.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

The rank and file pay attention to senior leadership, so please set a good example. Own up to and admit mistakes (like questionable acquisitions), and hold the correct people accountable. Certain cost cutting measures make the company look cheap, like no catering for lunch meetings.

I have been working at Cisco Systems

    Pros

Stable job and good if you have a young family

    Cons

Growth not as fast as in a start-up due to lot of levels of management.
