-Flexible Work (from home, etc)
-Chill Work Environment
-Friendly peers and superiors

Cons

-Slow promotions
-Slower work environment
-Few defined/documented processes
-No defined career pathing

Advice to ManagementAdvice

-Define career paths (especially for younger employees)
-Change the rewards and promotion methodology (I've heard from many older employees that the fastest way to get promoted is to leave the company and then come back - that's bad.)

Former Employee - Public Relations Manager in San Jose, CA

I worked at Cisco Systems full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

The benefits are very good, especially the medical, dental, and vision plans. Good budget for learning opportunities. Travelling to other parts of the world and working with colleagues. The culture is competitive, making you want to do your best.

    Cons

Often work nights and weekends because you're always connected. Since 2001, they have yearly layoffs. The managers need to be trained better in order to motivate employees.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Get rid of deadwood managers who don't motivate employees. Or, better yet, send them to manager training so that they have an opportunity to improve.
