    Pros

Cisco's compensation is better than most large companies in their industry. They have a generous bonus and stock grant program, although their stock has gone nowhere in the last 10 years so don't expect any price appreciation. It's best to cash out your RSU and ESPP shares as they become available. Cisco has a very liberal work-at-home policy. Many employees take advantage of this to run their own business on the side.

    Cons

Cisco has evolved into a conservative, slow moving, procedure-driven company that looks to the acquisition of other companies--rather than innovation--to drive its business. Expect to spend many hours bogged down in endless meetings with dozens of people and no clear decision-maker. I've never seen so many people work so hard and accomplish so little. This is a company of mostly B and C players who don't really have to think, just follow procedures.

    Advice to Management

Cisco needs to clean house, starting at the top. Bring in new senior management who can work together and are motivated by a desire to innovate rather than furthering their own political agendas
