I worked at Cisco Systems full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Room for growth. If you take initiative you can go far. Many ways to get involved. Cisco has a great volunteer program that lets the employees contribute their time to good causes. Good teamwork and collaboration within Cisco.

    Cons

The employee evaluations are sometimes difficult to compile. The employee needs to asses themselves, then the manager gives input. Here is where you list your accomplishments and classes you have attended. Unfortunately, the admins are grouped together with the teams they support, so it is hard to rank high compared with team members that do more complex jobs.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Please pay attention to individual contributors and don't get bogged into the management ladder. Upper management must pay attention past the layers of management to the backbone-- individual contributors.
