I have been working at Cisco Systems

    Pros

#Stable job, candidate doesn't get fired if he does his job, can learn different technology if we move to different group, RSUs given - though it is very limited in no.
#Easy to grow from entry to senior level easily.
#Rooms to grow by taking side steps rather staying in the same course.
#ccie attempts are free, complete them and move out of cisco if you want to earn more.

    Cons

#No matter what you do, you can't grow beyond certain level. Because there is no mentoring or the stuff mentioned on the book doesn't work even if we achieve them.
#The growth/promotion guidelines are displaced with different info on 3 different places with different rules. It takes many many years to follow/complete them, not sure how people are getting promoted.
#Cisco expects to do an team work but your performance is judged against them using a method called cpc.
#Bonus is very small for the top most performer. it doesn't worth the time.
#Company recognizes the hard work but not to the great extend.
#Cisco doesn't identify the talent and assign the work to them accordingly rather always look for sr. member to do that job irrespective of he is capable or not which produces little to no output.
#Need to give way for young generation rather going behind the person who work for that team for 10/20 years who doesn't do well with today's pace and technology change.
#Job assignment is based on how many years the person worked at cisco rather checking the person's knowledge on that work or his prior work history.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

#When someone under you is really very talented and making things happening on whatever he steps in find a way for his future growth rather exploiting.
#The hiring manager don't look the past experience and recruit the candidate in lower level, that's kind of makes the engineer very hard to grow or growth delayed since promotion doesn't happen frequently.
