I have been working at Cisco Systems full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Cisco treats employees well and is a company that is truly having a major impact on the world. We work hard, but there is lots of flexibility.

    Cons

Like any other large company, executive management is disconnected from the broad employee base. This is particularly disappointing at Cisco because it has become rapidly more acute over the last couple years.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stay in touch with the people doing the work.

I have been working at Cisco Systems as an intern (less than an year)

    Pros

Learn about the company and get a good feel for the culture (which is really great). Do work that builds your technical and non technical skills. Able to try different things do you don't get bored.

    Cons

Unorganized even it comes to interns. Analysts end up doing engineer work and engineers do analyst work so both parties don't build the skills they had hoped for.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Use people résumés to determine the positions and projects they will be used for.
