Pros

Has great talent that the management is pushing out with their corporate moves.
First line managers have improved greatly, and now focus on their employees rather than their bosses.
Unbelievable amount of resources to learn your craft.
Flexible working locations.

Cons

Politics are horrible.
Fiefdoms exist in the business units that develop the products.
Higher level individual contributor positions do not pay competitively with the market.
No career path for experienced professionals.

Keep cleaning out the middle management they just slow everything down.

I have been working at Cisco Systems full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Flexible work schedule. One of the best places for working mothers. One of the best places I've ever worked. Can work on interesting projects. Decent benefits. Did I mention flexible work schedule?

    Cons

One of the worst places I've ever worked. Lots of Managers, from the best to rookies. Flexible work schedule means working odd hours to accommodate colleagues in different time zones. Extroverts, and non-risk takers are rewarded. Success based mostly on your marketing efforts, the charisma of your Manager, and being in right spot at right time. Lots of restructuring, and the lack of upward mobility for mid-level management causes lot of disruption. Lots of cliques, non-diverse mono-culture especially in IT, and age discrimination. You're "aged out" at 50. Cons are typical of most large high-tech US companies.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

None. Upper management doesn't listen. There is a disconnect between upper management and mid management.

    Neutral Outlook
    Disapproves of CEO
