I have been working at Cisco Systems full-time (more than 10 years)

Pros

Great flexibility in where you live, and work. Exciting projects and programs always keep a person growing. There is always a "can do" or "let's make it happen" attitude amongst the team.

Cons

I have thoroughly enjoyed working for Cisco. Of course, it feels as if the layoffs are becoming more the norm rather than the exception, which is never good.

Amazing people and product. Feels like a much smaller company but processes are debilitating.

I have been working at Cisco Systems full-time (less than an year)

    Pros

Executive Management is fantastic. The people are awesome and the company cares about their customers and employees. Excellent products with #1 or #2 Market Share and Gartner Quadrant.

    Cons

Sales processes are debilitating. Forecast touch points 3+ times a week and tracking every $5K deal feels very junior. God forbid if one of your customers experience a major outage. You won't be able to sell for a month while you take care of the situation. Having no inside rep is very challenging.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I get that the Cisco forecast culture is a religion but senior sales reps find it difficult to develop big opportunities when chasing small deals through the system to meet "commits". See the forest through the trees, as they say. In the grand scheme, who cares if a deal hits bookings Monday or Saturday, as long as it hits in the FQ?
