Pros

1. Flexible hours, work from home option.
2. Good bonus.
3. Great benefits. Onsite medical facilities. Free shuttles to bart/caltrain/san francisco..
4. Challenging work and cutting edge technology in some teams. Quality of work and management varies widely across teams/business units.

Cons

Big bloated company, too many layers of management.
Not a fun workplace. Workplace Resources department is very inefficient and does a poor job.

Advice to Management

Get rid of redundancies and unnecessary layers. Make the company more attractive for young people.

Good work experience, but this tech giant has become middle-aged and unwieldy.

    Pros

Good salary and PTO policy and opportunity to learn. CISCO encourages employees to rotate to other positions within the company. Even the multiple ongoing rounds of layoffs are handled as gracefully as such things can be, with sensitivity to those affected.

    Cons

Lack of communication. There are too many oddball managers in too many departments who are technically adept but lack people management skills. The Finance organization has been struggling to find the right blend of San Jose-based, India-outsourced, and North Carolina RTP-based job mix.

    Advice to Management

    Incorporate 360 degree review process.

    Pros

Work with some of the smartest individuals in the industry, the projects are challenging and give you the opportunity to lead and drive the technology direction for your customers.
Have been here less than a year, really enjoying working for the team... Hopefully can maintain this review in the years to come.

    Cons

With the latest layoff announcement, people have been put under more pressure to perform (which isn't a bad thing). More project responsibilities have fallen on most people and under the radar to deliver.
I guess it's understandable when the company is going through drastic change. With the recent changes, the company's outlook looks stronger coming into next year.
