Various BUs operate pretty much like independent organisation. Very few cross BU collaboration happens.

Former Employee - Software Engineer IV in Bangalore (India)

I worked at Cisco Systems full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Wide variety of opportunities. Switching job internally is encouraged after one year of service which is good.

    Cons

Difficult to maintain work life balance. Work from home facility ensures that you take work home and also attend calls, meetings at US hours ( india unfriendly hours) thereby spoiling human clock :(

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Hire right and intelligently. When market is good then folks are hired like crazy and when market goes down then folks are laid off. Thats not a good trend. Lots of acquisitions leading to various products and customers using them feels they are still from various provider as look and feel is different and interop is not fully there.
