I have been working at Cisco Systems full-time for more than 5 years

Pros

Cisco is the number #1 networking company. There are a lot of thing to learn on the cutting edge technology.

Cons

Cisco does not pay salary as high as its peers. Healthcare cost contribution is also high. Long commute to work for me.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Management should create more fun thing for employee like having more department picnics, group outing, bring children to work day ...etc.

I worked at Cisco Systems full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

The people, culture and benefits are great. There are a lot of people with extensive finance and accounting knowledge so there is the opportunity to learn a lot.

    Cons

Regular layoffs. The finance function is being moved to low cost areas so there are not a lot of opportunities in San Jose. Rotating to new positions was on of the appealing things about working for Cisco which is not easily possible now.

I worked at Cisco Systems full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

A lot of opportunities to learn new technology and to be marketable.
Compenstation and Bonuses are fairly decent.

    Cons

Upper Management only seems to care about the bottom line. I never felt that they ever cared about the products or the people which made me have no respect for upper management.

You need to give 110% every day. This is expected. Weekend and holidays, too. The way they handle employee ranking is the same methodology as GE which to me is pretty unfair.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Care about the products and the employees. This will go a long way with morale.

    Neutral Outlook
    No opinion of CEO
