Pros

Good compensation and benefits for employees

Cons

Lack commitment to the employees performing well and wanting to stay with the company

Advice to Management

Stop outsourcing work to India and commit to saving US jobs. Its a joke to see John Chambers on TV saying he's helping create US jobs then he lays off 4,000 employees. Acquiring companies and letting go good performing long time employees shows a lack of commitment to the "Cisco family" that John preaches.

    Pros

    Salaries and benefits are generous

    Cons

The working environment is bad, and everyone is under pressure to do more with less. Promotions are non-existent, people don't care anymore, everyone is looking to leave to find a place with a brighter future. Cisco is so big that the highest levels of management doesn't have any idea what the worker bees are actually doing. The people that are laid off don't make sense. The company is completely fragmented with VPs creating their own fiefdoms. Cisco used to be a fun and interesting place to work at, now everyone is too busy looking over their shoulders and taking credit for work they didn't do.

    Advice to Management

Look at ways to streamline the company and reduce inefficiencies. For example, there are a dozen teams, working for a half dozen VP's, responsible for managing the integration of an acquisition into Cisco with no team ultimately responsible for its success. Create an AI team that has overall responsibility and staff it with people who know what they are doing. Stop the redundant duplication of effort that wastes everyone's time.
