I have been working at Cisco Systems full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Smart people, good technology, good benefits; you will be challenged intellectually in working on customer solutions, and cisco has a great pool of experts you can tap into

    Cons

Horrible management with no idea how to promote strong employees and no idea how to train and maintain a strong group of employees, leaving the work of training up to each individual. Plus, Cisco has limited market growth and is too big for it's own good; whether it's in cloud, SDN, or Unified Communications, Cisco is the gorilla in the room that leverages its vast install base to get sales vs its product-set. Considering it is such a big company, it's very difficult to move up in the organization, leading to a culture where everyone struggling to exceed last year's $50B revenue mark and only the luckiest sales teams reap the rewards.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Learn to enable your employees through training, and award the true go-getters in the organization.
