Disapproves of CEO

I have been working at Cisco Systems as a contractor (More than 8 years)

Pros

Casual, structured enough, flexible enough.

Cons

Upper Management heavy, middle management heavy. Contractors do more work than employees.

Advice to Management

If a contractor has been around and performing better than your employee. Fire one, Hire the other.

I have been working at Cisco Systems full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    flexibility, 401K matching, health insurance

    Cons

bad management, impersonal, not so competitive pay, have to pay for the gym, crappy food at cafeteria

    Advice to Management

Get more involved in company's initiatives. Managers don't seem involved in what's happening outside their group. No need to be so isolated from the rest of the company

I worked at Cisco Systems as an intern

    Pros

They have good benefits and as a big company they offer a lot for you to look around and see what other things you can work on. Larger companies tend to allow you to explore a variety of different kinds of work

    Cons

Culture didn't fit me. I thought it was still a bit of "the boy's club" and I often got put into secretarial positions as an Engineer, or customer facing positions...which is annoying.
