    Pros

Great Company to work for. Good benefits and excellent work/life balance. Often able to work from home. Exciting to work for such a leading edge company.

    Cons

Some poor managers at lower levels - probably not unusual for a large corporation. Compensation not as competitive as with of firms. Many of the jobs shifting to off shore workers.

    Pros

Challenging work. Extensive types of work and job skills available. Good benefits: medical, 401K, ESPP, incentive stock awards.

    Cons

In my area it is almost impossible to transfer out to another group. Huge amount of processes/overhead as a software developer you have to jump over to commit any code. When joining, very difficult to get more experienced engineers to help to learn the tools, router mgmt/sw install, etc.. You're on your own for learning most things on the job. The company culture is stale, not going to be too attractive for you. Your enjoyment/fulfillment from working at Cisco will mostly come from your own group and your manager. Probably true for most companies.

    Advice to Management

Appears that some demographics are more appealing when hiring engineers here (i.e. Asian and Indian engineers seem to be more desirable as new hires).
