Great place to Work Live Play and Learn, if your in the right place in Cisco

Account Manager (Current Employee) Singapore (Singapore)

Pros1. Cisco folks are smart, experienced, diverse, culturally exposed, very professional and quite friendly. Collaboration is part of daily work and people are willing to help out.

2. Technology is everywhere, and Cisco eats its own dog food, just not the latest release. The portfolio of products in Cisco will simply amaze people.

3. Individual contributors are empowered to make critical decisions, access people across the company towards identified goals in a relatively flat hierarchy.

4. Awesome work life balance, you decide how much you want to work and earn, now with mobility and great tools, where doesn't really matter. You can use Apple, PC, iPhone, BB, Android, IT is heading towards any to any device. Which is great for tech savvy folks

5. Overall package is average with good medical coverage.

Cons1. Compensation package are sometimes mediocre at best, promotions and pay increments can take eons. Loyalty is rewarded by stagnation in grade level, however we welcome jumpers back with higher grade, pay and recognition.

2. Personal growth and career can be on both ends of the spectrum, depending on your manager, which team and where ? Markets with high growth reasonably gets resources and attention.

Along the lines of its acquisition and develop strategy, talent seems to be managed the same way. Rarely find young people in Cisco, mostly IT old timers, reliable and dependable. This makes things dull and mundane at times.

3. Cisco finds innovative ways to complicate doing business, which in turn complicate most peoples jobs.

4. Too many initiatives, too many programs, too many tools "everything in Cisco is online somewhere, if you can find it then great".

5. Cisco culture is beginning to be diluted in certain places, from an awesome company its starting to be just another IT company. Yet whats most disturbing is on the surface things are ok.

Advice to Senior ManagementCisco culture is slowly eroding, things left unchecked the company will be remembered as a great place to work live play and learn.

1. Train and develop more people, INVEST $$

2. Round Robin Cisco execs across different countries

3. Re look at compensation and incentives at the ground level

4. Doing more with less has limits, dont wait for the rubber band to snap
