I have been working at Citi full-time for more than a year

Pros

Great People and an enjoyable, fairly relaxed atmosphere on any given day -- (when the "cons" aren't working against you". The work is interesting and challenging.

Cons

Unpredictable workload resulting in existing staff having to "power through" any heavy months of activity. The idea of an 8 hour day doesn't exist the last two weeks of any month... just too much to do and not enough time to do it. This "maximizing efficiency" approach can start to feel like your full time salaried position is a definite disadvantage, resulting in earning less and less per hour.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Management appears unwilling or unable to have a buffer to anticipate additional workload. There needs to be a way to have additional staff "trained up" and ready to bring on board so that there is not several months of impossible deadlines before help arrives.

I have been working at Citi full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Management is very flexible, somewhat laid back environment, people are very friendly and willing to help out.

    Cons

Too BIG, no clear lack of structure...Still have not recover from the financial crisis, still lay-offs, management hardly cares about your year end reviews, Have to be within the "IN" crowd if you want your career to prosper here. Raises & bonuses are an insult to the employees.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Promote the employees within your firm who have been there for a long time, instead of handing out titles of to new hire employees.

I have been working at Citi full-time for more than a year

    Pros

The speed of work is not fast, this helps you initially to know how everything works, but it becomes a disadvantage after you spend some time.
You can learn a lot from people around, as some have worked at many other financial firms while some are veterans.
You can get in touch with various teams, have informal chats and learn how they work.

    Cons

While working with other teams, it sometimes takes time to get back responses, some teams are fast some not so much.
There are some procedures which are ancient and only few update them.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Should interact with employees about the career growth more often.
