“Significant opportunity, always turbulent, inwardly focused”
Former Employee – worked at Citi full-time for more than 10 years
Pros – Amazing senior talent base, broad array of financial businesses, signifcant opportunity for non US exposure.
Cons – The tighter the times, the more political it gets. Personal loyalty counts for too much in bad times.
Advice to Senior Management – Take more risk in terms of getting the best people long term. In the Reed era this was business as usual, and they made it a point to reach across industries for talent at all levels. Now they're apparently too scared to make even one mistake, ever. Bad people can be fired, I can tell you.
