OK, but the AML dept hires too many underqualified people

Current Employee - Senior AML Analyst in Tampa, FL
Current Employee - Senior AML Analyst in Tampa, FL

I have been working at Citi full-time (more than an year)

Pros

Great work/life balance, ability to work from home multiple days
Skip level meetings are encouraged
Voice can be heard

Cons

Red Tape
Highly bureaucratic
Important depts such as IT is too decentralized (to fix PC issues, expect a week wait time for results)
Process Improvement takes way too long
Pay increases are minimal to non-existent

Advice to ManagementAdvice

The AML dept is a mess, don't continue to hire underqualified people without a banking background or office experience. The mess and disorganization of AML comes from those who are not familiar with working in a professional office environment.

    Pros

    Large corporation
    Good compensation
    Structure workflow

    Cons

Unfair judgement on work perfermance. Basically base on what your manager gives you and if he is determine to kick you he will get it done.
My manager was very unprofessional as was swearing at me during close doors for doing things for a customer.
Manager took all the credit for work done by his his co-worker.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

How come one manager in same position as the other has more things to do and the other doesn't.
Need better managerment training for managers to teach them how to train

I worked at Citi full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Good Benefits. They offer multiple schedules. Not a bad choice but not something you'd want to stay at for as long as I did, hind site 20/20 I wish I would have went back to school and learned something more valuable, they make it so easy to stay on the hampster wheel with all the vacation they offer and you do have job security or at least I did.

    Cons

Pay to retain employess is horrible to say the least and Management is some what to be desired. If your just looking for a "job" this might work for you. Its one of those kinda jobs where you need to drink lots of koolaid, you are the hampster on the wheel.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

All management should be required to have at least a bachlors degree.
