Times have changed a lot since starting with this company. May be good again one day but for now- too much uncertainty.

Pros

The best reasons to work for citigroup are the training, which is extensive and the employee benefits. Until the last few years, company growth and new job potential was a big factor for liking the company. The one good thing hat has come about recently is that it appears that we are finally starting to see some light at the end of the tunnel and the company may be stabalizing

Cons

Downsides are the uncertainty and the cutting back everywhere within the company. WHen I first started there was flexiblity in terms of employee bonus and recruiting. That is no longer an option for either. Watching the company stock fall to the sub $1 range

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Better communication with middle management always seemed to be an issue.

It is no wonder that people don't last more than a few years.

    Pros

The compensation package is competitive with other national wire houses.

    Cons

Training for new brokers only focuses on selling, there is no consideration for teaching new employees the science of managing money.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Treat the clients like human beings not just account numbers. Although gross commissions and profitability are the end goal, the management should consider how they actually treat the clients. Perhaps we could work on keeping the average client happy rather than constantly trying to get new clients.

Citi - Potential for greatness, but paralyzed like a wooly mammoth stuck in a tar pit

    Pros

I believe that someday Citi will become an efficient and streamlined corporation. When this happens, Citi will truly be a benchmark company to work for.

Citi has a footprint in every market and every product.

As Citi restructures, there will be much opportunity to make an impact in the future of the company.

    Cons

Citi is a tangled beaurocratic and technological mess. This has created a culture where employees are conditioned for process failure, inefficiency and just general complacency.

Brain Drain - many of the bank's talent has either left the firm or is making every effort to leave.

Future compensation structure is a mystery.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Invest more money in technology and downsize the armies of support staff. Ensure that technology staff supporting english speaking employees can actually speak english.
