I worked at Citi

Pros

very good place to start out, lots of different opportunities and lots of people around to learn from. A much better work culture then most places on the street.

Cons

compensation may not be the highest on the street.

    Pros

Citi contributes 6% of your salary to the 401K plan instead of pension Plan

    Cons

Weekly Layoffs; They will have you move at your expense to a different state or country at the local pay rate as long as it's lower than what your currently making; Senior Management changes corporate direction without notice and no planning.

    Advice to Management

Research the problem and execute a plan then adjust the plan when problems arise. Don't come up with a new plan in a total different direction which cost the firm money and your only reaction is to cut jobs with the exception of the person who came up with the orginal plan.

    Pros

    - High exposure to clients, particularly in the 2nd and 3rd year, for a junior banker - A lot of M&A modeling experience and market strategy work - Good / solid team in a small regional office

    Cons

    - Joined during the banking crisis, so lost a lot of our team the first year - Long hours, hard work, not a lot of vacation or down time as an investment banking analyst

    Advice to Management

    - Work on continual development of staff, even staff that is "expected" to rotate out in 2-3 years (would help with retention)
